For the first time, the Army’s prestigious Ranger School will open its doors to female soldiers, who will attend a pilot program starting April 2015, as part of a one-time integrated assessment. Approximately 60 female soldiers are slated to take part in the training alongside their male counterparts.
When asked what a successful pilot run would look like, Army Chief of Staff Gen. Ray Odierno stated: "The main thing I'm focused on is the standards remain the same. In order to earn that tab, you have to do all the things necessary to earn that tab. We want to try a pilot to let women have the opportunity to do that."
