Matt White was a Pararescuemen in the U.S. Air Force and Alaska Air National Guard from 1998 to 2007. He is a former staff writer at the Philadelphia Inquirer, Anchorage Daily News, and Hampton Roads Daily Press. He has contributed to national publications including Esquire, OutsideOnline, Los Angeles Magazine and on defense issues for the Washington Post and Task & Purpose.
