Beyond thanks, today’s veterans represent the best of a generation. They are the men and women who raised their hands to go join the military, who volunteered to shoulder the burden of 13 years of war.
Indeed, just one in four 18-24 year olds is even eligible to join today’s military service. Many don’t meet the education or fitness requirements, or they have criminal histories.
When today’s veterans return home, they often don’t know what they want to do with their lives. And oftentimes, they have a hard time translating their skills and experiences to employers who may not understand what they did in the service.
While Task & Purpose endeavors to give voice to a new generation of great military veterans, through Hirepurpose, we are actively trying to build it.
To help close the gap that exists between veterans and employers, Hirepurpose has partnered with nearly 50 Fortune 500 companies that want and need to integrate modern veterans into their rapidly expanding workforces.
In that spirit, Hirepurpose has entered the Close It Summit, a competition to recognize new companies that are working to close the skills gap.
