Caroline Angel, R.N., Ph.D is Team RWB's Research Director. Dr. Angel is a master’s prepared psychiatric mental health nurse who holds a Ph.D. in Nursing and Criminology from the University of Pennsylvania. Her research has focused on post-traumatic stress, shame, forgiveness, health, and mortality. She has longitudinally followed a series of randomized controlled trials and was in a research or teaching role at the University of Pennsylvania between 1999 and 2014. Caroline is a runner and crossfitter. She leads Team RWB Central New Jersey.

On the surface, the veterans I exercise with in the gym or on the running trail appear to be doing great. But in quiet moments, sometimes between breaths on a treadmill, or unloading a barbell, core truths are revealed: It isn’t always easy. Memories are painful, and emotions are raw. They have stories to tell that require an audience.
