Google Is Helping Amputees Get New Prosthetics

On Tuesday, Google announced its new initiative, Google Impact Challenge: Disabilities, through which the tech company will donate $20 million from its nonprofit Google.org. The grants will go to “nonprofits using emerging technologies to increase independence for people living with disabilities.”


Enable Community foundation, one of the two initial recipients of funding, received a $600,000 grant from Google to provide free prosthetics to those who need them, and World Wide Hearing received $500,000 to develop an affordable kit for diagnosing hearing loss, and fitted hearing aids.
