Supermodel Kate Upton is 2017’s Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover girl and a pretty accomplished weightlifter, but she can’t quite hang with the Marines.

In Detroit, Michigan, on Aug. 22, Gunnery Sgt. Sara Pacheco, a Marine Corps fitness instructor, broke Upton and five MLB Detroit Tigers’ wives and girlfriends during a 13-minute workout that included side straddle hops, lunges, butt-kickers, and toe touches.

Afterward, Upton “collapsed on the grass, dripping sweat, as she panted to catch her breath,” The Detroit News reported. The team was there to promote Marine Week Detroit, which will take place Sept. 6 through the 10th.

“I think that it was the nonstop,” Upton told the publication. “Normally, I like to take a little rest in between sets, but to keep going was a very difficult thing, but that’s what we’re out here promoting. The Marines put on a ruck of 100 pounds, and they’re going for 20 miles. They never stop, so it showed me that I have a long way to go before I ever put a ruck on my back.”

Roughly 700 Marines will come to Detroit to compete in activities that honor all active duty Marines. This is the first time the city will host Marine Week, which has taken place in a different city each year since 2009.

Upton participated in the Corps workout to support the Wins for Warriors Foundation, which her fiancé, Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander, started in 2016 to help service members reconnect with their families through physical activities.

“I think they did really well, actually,” Pacheco told The Detroit News. “They didn’t quit, they didn’t give up and they seemed to be having a lot of fun, despite how much they might have been in pain during it.”
