This 1992 TV Ad Actually Makes Us Want To Drink Coors Light

“I am Gunnery Sergeant Hartman, your senior drill instructor. From now on you will speak only when spoken to, and the first and last words out of your filthy sewers will be ‘Sir.’ Do you maggots understand that?” said actor R. Lee Ermey in the 1987 cult classic “Full Metal Jacket.”

“And no drinking in the barracks,” he added.

Okay, so that last line is made up. But in this 1992 Coors Light Commercial, it could have been real. That year, the Rocky Mountain brewery made an ad that allowed Ermey to reprise his role as Gunnery Sgt. Hartman and be reprimanded by legendary actor John Wayne for taking his beer from the barracks, and blaming it on new recruits.
