According to NBC News, the list, originally curated by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama, and Sessions' chief of staff, Rick Dearborn, was significantly cut down by Flynn, Kellogg, and Trump’s inner circle of family members and friends.
On Nov. 17, NBC reported that Flynn crossed out a number of leading candidates for national security and intelligence positions endorsed by Christie and Sessions, including Marine Gen. James Mattis, Marine Gen. Peter Pace, Navy Adm. William McRaven, and former House Intelligence chairman Mike Rogers.
Flynn, who is still under consideration for National Security Adviser, did not respond to NBC News’ request for comment.

Retired Marine Staff Sgt. R. Lee Ermey, the legendary Marine drill instructor turned iconic Full Metal Jacket actor who died last year, will be formally laid to rest with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Jan. 18, according to the cemetery's web site.
