Sometimes during military life, you just have to laugh at what is going on. Things can get a little crazy sometimes and you will need a sense of humor. You can’t take everything so seriously all the time and you have to allow some of what you go through to make you laugh.

love these!

Just kidding…

You hear you are going to get stationed in California and think San Diego… but end up in the desert instead. Sometimes you might get lucky and will be able to be stationed exactly where you want to. The reality is, you will probably end up somewhere you wouldn’t expect but that doesn’t have to be a bad thing. Just be aware that the military might laugh at your desires and put you somewhere very different than you had in mind.

You just have to laugh when you can’t stop kicking those darn boots. They are always in the way and yet you miss them when they are gone. Just be careful not to break one of your toes. That would hurt. Bad.

The balancing act…

Life as a military spouse is tricky and sometimes you can feel like you are balancing a little too much. Just remember, you will experience crazy times during your time as a military spouse but then things will settle down and you will be able to relax a bit. At least until things get crazy again, which they will. They always will.

Murphy’s Law

Without fail, as soon as your spouse leaves, things are going to happen. Your car will break down, your washing machine will break and your kids will start acting up. It’s nice to know that you are not alone and that most other spouses have also experienced the Murphy’s Law of Deployments. Hopefully you have someone to call to help you out of whatever pickle Murphy puts you in.

Laundry is mission essential

They have to fit everything in a small bag for weeks of training but can’t get the laundry right. What gives?  It’s just one of those things and you learn to live with it. Or you tell them how annoyed you are and they say they will try harder but then they deploy again and forget. Such is life.

Razor? Naaaaah.

See? There are benefits to your spouse being away a lot of the time. You don’t always have to shave your legs. You can let them grow. No one will know. Unless it is summer. Then you should probably shave your legs anyway. And don’t forget to do so the night before homecoming… 😉

Military Appointment Line

TRICARE is a great military benefit but dealing with making appointments can be crazy! You might have to wait until your baby is a year before they see him for his 4-month appointment. It’s hard not to complain about this as you want your child to be seen as soon as possible. But at least you don’t have co-pays most of the time, right?

Aw…movers. They will pack anything. Literally, anything if you let them. There are so many horror stories about trash being found months later. They also use a lot of paper. Lots of it. For silly reasons. Every military family probably has at least one story about an oddly wrapped item. And your kids can color on all that paper after you unpack. It will keep them entertained for days.

At the end of the day, you can make a lot of jokes about military life. Both the good and the bad. Remember to smile and try to take things as they come. Even if they don’t seem funny now, they might someday.
