It’s only the beginning of the year, but PCS seasoning is looming over us all. We are anxiously awaiting orders to see where our new home will be. Our fingers are poised over our keyboards so we can start that research process as soon as we get the official word from our spouse. PCS time is always a stressful and exciting time.

It can also be overwhelming. There is a lot that needs to be done in a short amount of time. However, there are things that you can do now to prepare for that big move, no matter where you are heading next.

Here are a few of my tips for getting that early preparation in for your upcoming PCS:

It’s amazing how much stuff we accumulate in just a few years. Take this time before the craziness starts to go through some of that stuff and declutter. Get rid of those old toys, clothes that no longer fit, and anything else you simply don’t use anymore.

Organize Paperwork:
Just because you don’t have orders in hand yet doesn’t mean you can’t get a head start on that paperwork organization. Gather medical records, shot records, school transcripts, pet vaccination records, etc and get those organized now instead of waiting for the last minute.

Whether you are selling your house, in a rental, or in military housing you know you will need to deep clean your house before you move out. Start doing a spring cleaning now. If you do some of the big stuff now, then you will just have to surface clean later on.
