MilitaryOneClick is again proud to sponsor and partner with Billy Hurley III, PGA golfer and we’re excited to see his progress in this weekend’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in California! A former Naval officer who was stationed in Maryland, Florida, and Hawaii, Hurley is the first graduate of the US Naval Academy (’04, Quantitative Economics) to join the PGA Tour as a member. As a Midshipman, Hurley won 7 collegiate titles and was named the 2004 Patriot League Player of the Year.
While on active duty with the US Navy from 2004-2009, he (unsurprisingly!) had little time to spend on golf; however, while teaching economics at the Naval Academy in 2006, Hurley was able to participate in some PGA Tour events.
Hurley’s return to the golf world after active duty was immediate. During 2010, he competed on two tours, eGolf and NGA-Hooters. He joined the PGA Tour in 2012 after earning a spot in the top 25 of the 2011 Web.com Tour Money List. In addition to his golfing accomplishments, he is an ambassador of the SEAL Legacy Foundation, supports Compassion International, Inc., and Birdies for the Brave.
Hurley, a native of Virginia, currently lives in Annapolis, Maryland with his wife, Heather, and two sons.
This week, Hurley will be competing as one of 156 professionals at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am (February 8-14, 2016) in front of more than 150,000 spectators, not to mention the millions of television viewers across the world. The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is played at three golf courses on the Monterey Peninsula: Pebble Beach Golf Links, Spyglass Hill Golf Course, and Monterey Peninsula Country Club Shore. Originally created when Bing Crosby invited friends to play golf and raise money for charity, it has since grown in size– involving 156 golf professionals and 156 celebrity amateurs with more than$9.1 million dollars raised for charity just last year.
