Thank you to our guest blogger, Bobbi Pack, from

It’s that time…you know what I am talking about the week you have been waiting nine long months for….Your Soldier Is Coming Home!! Can I get a Woot-Woot!?! When my soldier first deploys we begin the count down to home, yes….I start the count down the second he is no longer on US soil.  I have a huge jar filled with Hershey’s Kisses and it says count down to home.  Everyday I eat one kiss out of the jar until they are all gone…and by the time they are all gone my soldier is back on US soil.

Such a heartwarming homecoming story!

Many people ask me how and why I do it…I have been asked countless times why I stay..why I continue to live this life.  Well, the answer is simple…I love my soldier more than a jucy-bug! I can’t tell you I knew what I was getting into when I married a soldier as I had no clue what military life was all about.  I knew he would deploy and be away from home a lot…but I had no clue.  The hardest part of this life to me is the deployments….I have no clue where he is, what he is doing and if he is safe.  All I can do is keep my faith and pray for the Skype to ping me to let me know he is safe and back in his room.

Bobbi's First Kiss

So….back to my soldier coming home…I count down the days from the very start, I feel like a kiss a day is one closer to our first real kiss again.  The week before he comes home is always the hardest on me in terms of stress….I talk all nine months about how I need to do this and how I need to do that…and…then YIKES…it’s a week before he will be home and I have not done this or that! So, I run errands like a mad women making sure I have everything I need for his home coming….such as his favorite foods and drinks.  After all he has not had my famous cooking for nine months and I want to make sure his first meal on US soil is his favorite. Then…yes you guessed it I run around the house cleaning everything and making sure there is not one little thing out of place.  I honestly have no clue why I do this…he honestly just wants to be home and really could care less about the fall decorates I have up…it is honestly just for me.  And, I also have not purchased my home coming outfit..OMG…what am I going to wear!?! So, I have to find the time to hit my favorite store at the mall, The Buckle, and pick out the outfit that will make me look my best! A lot of military spouses wear dressed…nope…not this girl I wear jeans or capris, a really cute belt, hot shoes and a really cute top to show off my tan.

Now, the day before my soldier is home I always get my eyebrows waxed, hair trimmed and any and all other beauty things I need done.  I always clean…clean…clean the house the day before as well…I know it is clean but it helps to keep my mind off the fact…MY SOLDIER IS COMING HOME!! When the day comes…oh yes the day I have been waiting nine months for…270 days is finally here and Bobbi's Kids Homecomingeven though it is not needed I clean the house one more time.  I also spend hours doing my make-up and hair to make sure I look my best…remember he has not “seen” me in nine months and I want to look amazing!

Oh man….just the sight of him marching onto that crowded airport terminal….OK so I could not pick him out of the 300 soldiers marching into the room wearing the same uniform…but you better believe the kiddos did…they saw him and never took their eyes off him.  You could hear my heart beating out of my chest and the General addressed the soldiers knowing I was seconds away from hugging and kissing my soldier for the first time…that first kiss is amazing…I can’t even put it into words….it is that amazing! And, at the moment I see him and he grabs me I don’t remember anything but why I married him….why I do what I do…why I wait…it’s because I love him…I Love My Soldier!

Welcome Home Baby!
