During our first deployment, I liked to go on a lot of walks. I had two young kids so I would put them in my double stroller and we would walk to the commissary, the PX, and downtown. We were in Germany so this was easy to do and helped pass the time for me.

I would always listen to my iPod. I filled it with music that I knew would make me feel better about my situation, that would make me feel like I got this deployment down, and that would encourage me. I always felt a bit better after those walks. Not only was I staying physically healthy during my walks but I was staying emotionally healthy, too.
