Lt. Aroon Seeda grew up in a Buddhist temple in Thailand. A chance encounter with U.S. Marines when he was a child– and a small gift– gave him the inspiration to learn English. Seeda immigrated to the U.S. in 2001 and joined the Navy Reserve seven years later. Now, he’s giving back to both countries that have given him so much as the Navy’s only Buddhist chaplain.
