HotelPlanner, an online travel booking company, is offering scholarship opportunities to ten outstanding military-affiliated students. The new scholarship seeks to help defray costs of undergraduate or graduate education, specifically for students who are pursuing careers in technology.

The $1,000 scholarship will be given to ten applicants, two times a year. The first application deadline is December 15, 2017, with notification of winning the scholarship by March 2018. The deadline for the second half of the year will take place in August, although that date has not yet been officially released.

All applicants must have participated in US military service or be the dependent (spouse, partner, or child) of someone who has served in the US military. HotelPlanner has outlined their other scholarship criteria to include:

  • Financial need
  • Acceptance to an accredited degree program in technology
  • Interest in a technology-related career

In a press release, the co-founder and CEO of HotelPlanner, Tim Henschel, said, “This scholarship is just one small way for us to give back to the men and women of our military who make such an extraordinary sacrifice to protect us. As the CEO of a global company, I know this world needs more candidates who exhibit the type of strength, integrity, dependability and tenacity that is core to those who serve. It is our intention to help educate these men and women so they are well-prepared for their next phase in life.”

To be considered,  applicants must complete an application that outlines, among other things, military service and estimated educational expenses. Those applying must also include a 500-word essay, although an accompanying video is optional. Eligibility requirements and more information as well as the application itself can be found here.
