Thank you to our guest blogger, Bobbi Pack from MyMilitarySavings.com, as we approach PCS crunch time

Whether you’re PCS trip is a long journey or short, from my experience of in general over the years, the #1 thing I can say is be prepared, but Travel Light!

You’ll be surprised as to how little you need on your person, when PCSing/Traveling. If you’re PCSing/Traveling during the winter you’ll need a little bit more…warm clothing, however, I’m sure one suitcase would do just fine.

OK, so I have started putting my suitcase together for this PCS, and I am happy to report that everything I need and want to take with me to our next duty station fits into one carryon size suitcase! I am also taking a backpack which has:

            ~Camera

            ~First Aid Kit

            ~Car Phone Charger

            ~Tissues

            ~Sweatshirt

            ~Sunscreen

~Easy Access Snacks (For me of course, the kiddos snacks are in the cooler.)

            ~A Bottle Of Water

~Emergency Information On Everyone In The Car

One of the biggest benefits of PCSing/Traveling Light…is….More Room In The Car!!  Woot Woot!

So, now that you know what is in my backpack that travels next to me in the car, here is what is in my carry-on size suitcase:

            ~Personal Items

            ~Clothes For Several Days

            ~PJ’s

            ~Bathroom Items

            ~Shoes

            ~PCS Paperwork

            ~Phone Charger

            ~Laptop

~Items That I Wanted To Take On My Person

So, now you know PCSing/Traveling Light is so simple…if this Army wife can do it anyone can do it.  Let me tell you it took me several PCSs to figure out I did not need 5 large suitcases for the drive.  😉

HAPPY PCSING/TRAVELING!
