Do you keep a planner?

With the growing popularity of dot grid journaling, scrapbooking, and high-end office supplies, keeping a family planner is no longer just about scheduling. It’s now about paper elegance and help keeping us all sane (and hopefully on time.)

I’m a BIG sucker for a good set of pens and a quick and helpful Insta video. In fact, it relaxes me and reminds me to write it all down. Appointments? Grocery lists? Parties and commitments? Write. It. ALL. Down.

  • Make your planner fun — first and obvious. But if you don’t like your planner, you won’t use it. It doesn’t have to be expensive, just find one that makes sense to you, and whose pattern you enjoy. If you prefer to keep an app, the same rules apply; find a platform you like to use. The same goes for marker or chalkboards, too.
  • Get the writing tools — whether you like pens, pencils, or hand-carved space rock markers, get what speaks to YOU. The more you like what you’re writing with, the more likely you are to use it. So stock up and get to recording.
  • Decorate — there are so many tools and add-ons you can use to help make your planner a good time. Stickers, washi tape, stamps or paint — the possibilities are practically endless. And for the non-artsy folks among us, opt for pages that are pre-designed. You can look toward textures, colors, designs, or even scents that get you excited about planning.
  • Keep up with it — no one likes the feeling of being forgetful. Keep your planner up to date for that feeling of “I’m on top of the world!” where you can list out entire weeks of activities and, gasp, even show up to things on time. You just might even impress yourself in the process.

Do you have a planner that helps keep your life on track? What are your best tips?
