Crews aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Harriet Lane stopped a vessel in the Caribbean Sea after suspecting a drug-smuggling operation, the Coast Guard said Monday.

What they found on the boat amounted to about $1 million worth of marijuana, the Coast Guard said.

Last week, crews offloaded the nearly 1,300 pounds of marijuana at the Coast Guard Base Miami Beach.

The Coast Guard, Navy, Customs and Border Protection, FBI, Drug Enforcement Administration, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement, along with allied and international partner agencies, have partnered to combat drug operations at sea.

“The fight against drug cartels in the Caribbean Sea requires unity of effort in all phases from detection, monitoring and interdictions, to criminal prosecutions by U.S. Attorneys in districts across the nation,” the Coast Guard said in a news release.
