An Air Force T-38 Talon from Vance Air Force Base, Oklahoma, crashed on Friday afternoon during a training flight, service officials announced.

  • “One instructor pilot was on board, and safely ejected,” according to an Air Force statement. “The pilot is conscious, was not seriously injured and is being evaluated by Air Force medical personnel.”
  • The plane went down at 1:48 p.m. local time about 50 miles west of Enid, Oklahoma. Emergency response personnel from Vance Air Force Base will launch an aircraft mishap investigation.
  • Friday marked the second T-38 crash since May 23, when two pilots safely ejected from a Talon over Mississippi.
