Edwards Air Force Base, California, is mourning the loss of Staff Sgt. Adam Erickson, who was killed in a Sept. 10 training parachute accident, according to the 412th Test Wing.

"We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss," Brig. Gen. E. John Teichert, commander, 412th Test Wing, said in a wing news release. "Adam touched many lives during his time here and our hearts and prayers go out to his family, friends and coworkers."

No specific information about the circumstances of Erickson's death was immediately available. The wing news release says Erickson was killed "during a routine military proficiency jump."

Erickson was assigned to the 412th Operations Support Squadron as a survival, evasion, resistance, and escape specialist, according to the Air Force Personnel Center. He served as the noncommissioned officer in charge of SERE operations and training.

His military awards include two Air Force Achievement Medals and the Air Force Commendation Medal.
