# Brit Bits: 6 Pieces Of Advice On Leadership From The UK Army

The rules that emerged from a [recent meeting of British Army leaders](<https://thearmyleader.co.uk/change-leadership/>) struck me as somewhat different from what I hear coming from the Americans. Here they are:

1. The conformity that got you to the top makes you unqualified to deal with the change
2. To harness non-conformists and diverse thinking, you need to be a leader that understands the team’s information networks
3. Diverse and inclusive teams are better at solving problem in a changing environment
4. You cannot execute on intellect alone. You need experience. And it is a leader’s job to develop that experience
5. Leaders set the context
6. When you lean back a level, the team thinks up a level
