A 24-year-old Dana Point, California man accused of stabbing three Marines outside a bar in San Clemente in August has been sentenced to four years in prison.

Alexis Moreno Aguirre pleaded guilty on Monday, Jan. 14, in Orange County Superior Court to two felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm, according to court records. A third felony assault charge was dismissed, along with sentencing enhancements for causing great bodily injury.

The fight occurred Aug. 3, just after 1 a.m., in the 200 block of El Camino Real. The Marines — two 21-year-old men and a 23-year-old man – are part of the 1st Battalion/4th Marines.

One Marine sustained a wound to the stomach, another was injured in his stomach and throat and a third suffered stomach and shoulder injuries, court records show. All three were taken to a nearby hospital.

The three Marines were back with their unit at Camp Pendleton on Aug. 6, said U.S. Marine Corps Capt. Paul Gainey.

“We are glad justice has been served,” Gainey said.
