How Navy SEALs Conquer And Control Their Fear

When it comes to controlling one’s fear, few know how to do it better than Navy SEALs.

Cristi Vlad explains the four techniques used by America’s elite warriors to think clearly in moments of extreme danger. Called the big four, the techniques involve setting goals for the near future to keep yourself grounded — like making it out of the firefight alive with your friends — mental rehearsal, self-talk, and breathing exercises.

These techniques allow you to take advantage of your body’s innate fight or flight response, and use it to your advantage, rather than having it dictate your behavior in a moment of crisis, which could be disastrous.
