A Marine at the Twentynine Palms base was arrested Tuesday, Aug. 25, after he paid to have a 14-year-old Fontana girl driven to the base and had sex with her, authorities say.
Donovan Bowin, 20, was arrested on suspicion of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said.
Investigators say Bowin had been communicating with the girl on social media and then snuck her onto Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, transporting her by a ride-hailing service. Investigators looking for the girl said they found her on the base.
Investigators served a search warrant at Bowin’s barracks, collected evidence and arrested Bowin, a news release said. The girl was reunited with her family.
