Special operations Marine dies during airborne training at Fort Benning

A Marine Raider was killed during airborne training at Fort Benning, Georgia, on Tuesday, Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command has announced.

The Marine’s name has not yet been released pending next of kin notification, a MARSOC news release says.

Little information was immediately available about the circumstances surrounding the Raider’s death.

“A critical skills operator assigned to the Marine Raider Training Center suffered fatal injuries while participating in the U.S. Army’s Basic Airborne Course 24-20,” the MARSOC news release says.

The incident is being investigated

“Our sincere thoughts are with the family during this difficult time,” the news release says. “MARSOC is providing care and support to them as they grieve this tremendous loss,”
