# Meet Alex Minsky: Marine, Wounded Warrior, Underwear Model

The good ladies at The View today sat down with an inspiring Marine veteran who has lived a lifetime worth highs and lows in his young life.

[Alex Minsky](<https://abcnews.go.com/blogs/lifestyle/2013/06/u-s-marine-alex-minsky-returns-from-war-as-underwear-model/>) lost his leg when his vehicle was struck by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan in 2009. He sustained a traumatic brain injury and spent 47 days in a coma.

He was medically retired from active-duty and struggled with alcoholism before turning his life around. Then, one day in the gym, he was discovered by a photographer who "loved his look."

Now he's making Marine veterans look great as an underwear model and a testament to perseverance.
