Obama Requests Use Of Military Force Against ISIS

The Obama administration formally requested Congress’s approval of war powers to deal with the threat posed by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. In a letter to Congress, President Obama said he is seeking permission to send in ground troops, with a restriction in their use, which precludes them from taking part in “enduring offensive ground combat operations.”

Obama is expected to address the public with his request on Wednesday afternoon.
