‘He will be severely missed’ — Soldier killed in vehicle rollover accident in Afghanistan

The Pentagon announced on Saturday that a soldier was killed in Afghanistan on Friday.

Spc. Vincent Sebastian Ibarria, 21, was killed in a vehicle rollover accident in Farah, Afghanistan, per the Defense Department’s press release. The accident is currently under investigation. 

Ibarria, from San Antonio, Texas, served as an infantryman in the 2nd Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Brigade Combat Team. His awards include the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, and more.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Spc. Vincent Sebastian Ibarria during this difficult time,” Lt. Col. Kamil Sztalkoper, spokesperson for the 10th Mountain Division, said in a press release. “The loss of any Mountain soldier has a lasting impact on every member of the team. 

“The 10th Mountain Division mourns the loss of Spc. Ibaria, he will be severely missed from our formation.”
