How Threatening is Al Qaeda’s New Butt Bomb?

In the most recent issue of its magazine called “Inspire,” Al Qaeda detailed plans for a bomb. A butt bomb. The idea behind the device is that a would-be terrorist would hide it inside of his or her body and smuggle it onto an airplane. However, there are a number of things that could go wrong for a would-be butt bomber.

The type of explosive device detailed in the article is highly volatile and frequently detonates during construction. After which point, the person carrying the explosive would have to run a gauntlet of security measures, all the while hoping that nobody notices the look of extreme discomfort such an individual would undoubtedly be expressing.
