It’s Time For Equal Opportunities For Women In The Military

An executive officer for the 72nd Military Police Detachment, out of Fort Bliss, Texas, advocates for the expansion of equal opportunities within the military for women.

As each branch opens various billets and courses to women, the author says that the initial failures that many women are facing as they attempt these courses should not be viewed as proof that women cannot handle the combat environment; rather, “it just forces female servicemembers to have realistic expectations of whether or not they would thrive in combat situations. Female servicemembers who wish to take a shot at ground combat-type training should use the failure of these female Marines as lessons learned to better prepare them for their opportunity when it arrives.”
