After 32 years without a pistol upgrade, the U.S. Army has decided that to first begin distributing its new Sig Sauer P320 handguns to troops with the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell in Kentucky.

The company’s been prototyping everything from autonomous tanks to high-powered sniper rifles, but the Russian weaponsmiths seem most excited about the advanced Lebedev PL-15 pistol: It could, with luck, become what The War Zone called “the AK-47 of pistols.”

If you’re trying to stop a bad guy from doing you harm, you can probably get the job done by using a smaller caliber weapon. You really don’t need a hand cannon that can punch through walls.
