The Carolina coast is bracing for Hurricane Florence, the Category 4 monster churning in the mid-Atlantic. The massive cyclone is headed for Wilmington, NC, and is expected to make landfall at 2 am on Friday the 14th.
Hurricane Harvey slammed Texas this weekend, dumping more than 20 inches of rain in some areas, collapsing parts of buildings, and turning streets into raging rivers, and it shows no signs of letting up, reports the New York Times.
Over the weekend, Hurricane Harvey devastated southeast Texas, likely impacting the lives of more than 450,000 people, according to the director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency. And they need your help.

As Hurricane Harvey bears down on the Texas coastline, the state government is calling in the cavalry. The Texas Division of Emergency Management, the state government’s disaster planning and response agency, is mobilizing more than 700 members of the Texas Air and Army National Guards in addition to the Texas State Guard at Gov. Greg Abbott’s request. The Air Force Reserve has relocated several C-5 Galaxy transport aircraft to Fort Bliss from Lackland Air Force Base to avoid the path of the Category 2 hurricane, according to ABC News, active duty service members have been deployed throughout the state to assist in emergency relief.
