U.S. Navy/Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Karalie Moore
The first 18 years of my life were spent under military rule: primarily my father's, who recently retired after 23 years as an officer and CH-46 pilot in the U.S. Navy. And while sometimes it was incredibly trying, I have to credit my upbringing for making me the person I am. Generally speaking, being a military brat has a really profound impact on who you become later in life.

I never pictured myself having kids. It just didn’t seem like something I’d be good at, or a lifestyle I wanted, until it happened. The moment I found out I was going to be a dad was by far one of many mixed feelings. I was excited and happy; afterall, I was, and still am, with an amazing woman who, I love to be around, and actually saw myself shaping a future with.
