Mark Graham, who has spent more than a decade advancing the public discourse on mental illness. Graham spoke on Oct. 17 at the annual Words of War Gala in New York City.

Businesses make money. Nonprofits make a difference. At least, that’s how many view the divide between doing good and doing well. But for ScoutComms and Hirepurpose, two veteran-owned businesses serving the veteran and military community, there is no distinction between making money and making a difference.
In a recent viral Facebook post, MMA fighter and U.S. Army Green Beret Tim Kennedy wrote that to get over post-traumatic stress disorder you need to “stop being a pussy.” The post set off a vigorous debate as to whether there’s any merit to Kennedy’s tough-love argument, or if he’s simply being insensitive to the countless veterans who suffer from PTSD.
