Alex Plitsas is a senior non-resident fellow at the Atlantic Council where he leads the Counterterrorism Program. He is an Army combat veteran of the Iraq War and served in Afghanistan as a civilian with the Department of Defense. He is the former chief of sensitive activities in the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Special Operations & Combating Terrorism. He has also worked on civilian efforts to evacuate Americans and allies in Afghanistan, Ukraine, and Gaza.
