Make every trip work harder with the Flagship Premier Visa Signature® Card

Premium travel rewards built for life on the move.
Family going on a trip

Military travel rarely looks like a perfectly planned vacation. It may be a cross-country PCS, a last-minute flight home, a long weekend built around leave dates, or a family trip squeezed between training calendars and school schedules. Even when the reason for traveling is exciting, the process is not, usually involving a small mountain of airline tickets, hotel nights, rental cars, tolls, parking charges and gut-bomb meals on the road.

A good travel card should make those purchases work harder without forcing cardholders to learn a complicated new routine. Navy Federal Credit Union’s new Flagship Premier Visa Signature® Card is designed for members who spend a meaningful amount on travel and dining and want stronger rewards, practical travel benefits and the freedom to book the way they already do.

The card carries a $95 annual fee, so it is not automatically the right fit for every member, but for active duty servicemembers, veterans, military families and DoD civilians who travel regularly, the combination of rewards and credits can provide real value.

Here’s what members should consider.

Earn more on the travel you already buy

Flagship Premier earns four points for every $1 spent on eligible travel purchases, three points per $1 on eligible dining purchases and one point per $1 on other eligible purchases. Eligible travel can extend well beyond airfare and hotels to include car rentals, cruises, vacation rentals, campgrounds, rideshares, parking and tolls when the merchant is coded by the payment network as travel.

That broader definition matters for military households. A PCS road trip may involve several hotels, a rental vehicle, airport parking, or tolls before anyone reaches the new duty station. A family visiting relatives may drive an RV rather than fly. A service member commuting through a toll corridor may generate travel spending without ever booking a traditional vacation. With Flagship Premier, many of those ordinary transportation costs can earn the card’s highest rewards rate.

There is no booking portal required. Cardholders can reserve a room directly with a hotel, book through an airline, or use another travel provider and still earn the applicable reward rate when the purchase is coded as eligible travel. Points can be redeemed for cash, travel, gift cards, or merchandise, and rewards do not expire as long as your account remains open.

Put the annual travel credits to work

The card also includes a $100 annual airline statement credit. After a cardholder spends a total of at least $100 on eligible airline purchases during the account year, Navy Federal provides a $100 statement credit. The spending threshold can be met in one purchase or across multiple purchases, although only transactions coded as airlines or air carriers qualify. For a member who can use the full airline credit each year, that benefit alone can offset the card’s $95 annual fee. That does not make the card free in every circumstance; the credit has specific eligibility rules, does not roll over and may take six to eight weeks to post, but it gives regular flyers a straightforward way to recover the cost of carrying the card.

Flagship Premier also offers up to $120 in statement credits for Global Entry or TSA Pre✓® application fees charged to the card. Expedited screening cannot make every airport line disappear, but it can take some friction out of military and family travel, especially for households that fly several times a year.

Stay connected and covered on the road

International travel often creates another familiar problem: staying connected without returning home to an unpleasant mobile-data bill. Flagship Premier cardholders can receive one complimentary 3 GB GigSky® global mobile data plan, valid for up to 15 days after activation in eligible countries, when the card is set as the default payment method in the GigSky app.

The card also includes travel and emergency assistance, worldwide automatic travel accident insurance for covered trips, and secondary collision damage waiver coverage on qualifying rental cars of 15 days or less when the rental is paid for with the covered card. Terms, restrictions and exclusions apply, so cardholders should review the benefits guide before relying on any coverage.

Make the welcome offer part of the decision

For a limited time, new cardholders can earn 50,000 bonus points (a $500 value) after making at least $4,000 in eligible purchases within 90 days of opening the account. The offer is available to members who apply and are approved between Sept. 10, 2026 and Jan. 3, 2027. Fees, interest, balance transfers, cash advances, gambling and cash-equivalent transactions do not count toward the spending requirement.

A welcome offer is most valuable when the required spending fits expenses already in the budget. A Navy Federal member expecting to purchase holiday travel, reserve a family vacation, or cover a planned move may reach the threshold naturally. Spending extra simply to chase points can erase the value of the reward, particularly if the balance is not paid in full every statement period.

Choose the card that fits your actual travel

Flagship Premier is best suited to members with very good to excellent credit who travel enough to use its rewards and benefits. Purchase, balance transfer, and convenience checks variable APRs currently range from 15.74% to 18.00%, based on creditworthiness. It has no foreign transaction fee, no balance-transfer fee and no cash-advance fee, although certain ATM transaction charges may apply.

Before applying, compare the annual fee with the value you realistically expect to receive. Look at last year’s spending on airfare, lodging, rentals, tolls, parking and dining. Consider whether you will use the airline credit and whether Global Entry or TSA Pre✓® is already in your plans.

Military life does not always make travel simple, but the right card can make the money spent along the way more productive. For members whose lives routinely take them through airports, hotels, highways and restaurants, Navy Federal’s Flagship Premier Visa Signature® Card brings premium travel rewards together in a package built for life on the move.
