About
Max Hauptman is a former breaking news reporter at Task & Purpose. He previously worked at The Washington Post as a Military Veterans in Journalism Fellow, as well as covering local news in New England.Â
Experience
Prior to starting in journalism, Max served for five years as an Army officer. While attending graduate school at Columbia, he specialized in audio production, reporting on issues including lowering the voting age and dropping the “mother of all bombs†in Afghanistan. After graduating, he worked at The Ellsworth American newspaper in Maine, covering local government, business development and even people climbing every peak in Acadia National Park in a month. In 2021, Max joined The Washington Post as its first Military Veterans in Journalism Fellow. He joined Task & Purpose to focus on the stories he is passionate about – those that speak to the true experiences of servicemembers and veterans.
Education
Max is a graduate of the United States Military Academy and the Columbia Journalism School.
