Military Times conducted an extensive survey that revealed a generation of troops and veterans being failed by the rest of the country. The results of the survey of 2,300 active-duty troops, which was released on Monday, found morale to be on the decline in nearly every aspect of military life, including job satisfaction, respect for superiors, and re-enlistment.

The survey results are being released in parts throughout December, and as Hope Hodge Seck writes, the big pictures shows that “After 13 years of war, the all-volunteer military is entering an era fraught with uncertainty and a growing sense that the force has been left adrift.”
