About
Joshua Skovlund is a family man, married, and a father of two. He previously covered the 75th anniversary of D-Day in France, multinational military exercises in Germany, and civil unrest during the 2020 riots in Minneapolis. After serving as a forward observer in the US Army, he worked as a personal trainer while earning his paramedic license. After five years working in Minneapolis as a paramedic, he transitioned to a career in multimedia journalism. He brings his medical expertise to coverage teams and has worn both hats on coverage trips to Ukraine, Iraq, and other places throughout the world
Experience
I have extensively covered both the first responder and special operations forces communities. I’ve traveled the world, storytelling through my camera and pen during the early days of the riots in Minneapolis following the murder of George Floyd, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and multi-nation training exercises in Germany.
Education
I have taken several journalism courses through the Poynter Institute and trained by notable editors like Carl Prine, Ethan Rocke, and Matt White.
