Sesame Street Launches New Resource For Transitioning Families

In continuing its 11-year commitment to military families, Sesame Workshop announced its newest resource, “Sesame Street for Military Families: Transitions.”
According to a release, the resources feature Elmo and Rosita “with success strategies for every member of a family facing the major milestone of leaving military service.”
This is another in a line of free military resources from Sesame Workshop, with support from the Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation. Others include relocation and feelings applications for mobile phones.

“‘Sesame Street for Military Families: Transitions’ was designed to help alleviate anxiety and stress that our service members and their families may experience as they begin reintegration into civilian life,” said Sherrie Westin, Sesame Workshop’s executive vice president of global impact and philanthropy. “We are honored to continue supporting our nation’s military families and hope that these resources will help fill a gap by addressing the needs of the whole family at a time of transition.”
The transition aides include things like “My Story, My Big Adventure Activity Book,” a printed keepsake book to give children a personalized expression space for dealing with transition, 10 new videos, and a newsletter for parents called “The Adventure Campaign.”
In addition, the website also includes tips for parents and to talk with children about the issues related to transition and other aspects of post-military life.
