The year was 2008 and America was ready for a war movie to honor the troops who had been fighting so bravely in Iraq and Afghanistan. Hollywood put out a call to directors to create a masterpiece that would cover every aspect of service. Like cowards, the directors fled and ran away. All but one. “I’ll do it,” Kimberly Peirce said while slicing an apple and sitting on a trash can with one leg propped up giving her her the swag of a salty sailor.
Okay, it didn’t really go down that way, but this movie is absolutely terrible. If you have a checklist of every stereotype that civilians have about war service, then this is the perfect drinking game movie.
