Director Cary Fukunaga tells the story of a fictional child soldier, Agu, as his carefree childhood is destroyed by civil war and he’s thrust into the terrifying world of a child soldier in the 2015 Netflix film Beasts of No Nation. Recommended by Adam for the podcast, neither Matt or Patrick have seen such an intimate story detailing the trauma that so many children have had to suffer. Even more so, the film opens up discussion as to how the United Nations chooses a side during these terrible conflicts and, in a way, validate the actions of warlords.
