On Thursday evening, the House approved a $1 trillion government spending package by a narrow 219-206 vote, which includes $554 billion for the Pentagon for fiscal year 2015. Government funding was scheduled to run out at midnight.

House Democrats tried to delay the vote and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, a Democrat from California, called the package a “moral hazard” and said she was “enormously disappointed” in the president, who had previously announced his support for it.

In the end, Democrats conceded to a vote. The spending package now moves on to the Senate floor.
