It’s Super Bowl Sunday in America. Millions of Americans will gather in homes or at sports bars across the country to watch the big game.
But the dialogue about the Super Bowl never focuses solely on the game. It’s also about the commercials, a chance for the nation’s top brands to speak to a massive audience.
And, as is often the case, Budweiser has come through with an incredible ad, where they gave a hero’s welcome to U.S. Army 1st Lt. Chuck Nadd, a Blackhawk helicopter pilot just returned from Afghanistan.
“Every Soldier deserves a hero’s welcome,” the ad says.
I don’t believe every veteran is a hero, I’m certainly not one. But the ad seeks to help bridge the huge divide between a nation and the more than 2 million men and women who have fought on behalf of that nation for the last 12 years. And that’s pretty important.
Most striking to me is that the scene depicted in the commercial, of the service member returning home from war, meeting a loved one in the airport or at the base, has happened 2.4 million times in the last 12 years.
