In May 1969, Maj. Thomas Morgan, the artillery intelligence officer for the 101st Airborne Division, went over to a secret squirrel signals facility near Hue.
“It was run by a major who wore old-fashioned crossed sabers, cavalry brass. I immediately suspected he was not a bona fide Army officer because he asked me what I was doing there, then asked me what a battalion was.”
As it turned out, Morgan relates in the July issue of ARMY magazine, “He was a decent sort, probably CIA, and we got along.”
