A Tactical Assessment Of Kevin’s Battle Plan In ‘Home Alone’

Share

“Home Alone” is the heartwarming story of plucky 8-year-old Kevin McCallister who defended his home from dopey burglars after his family forgot him when they went on vacation.

Or is it?

We have a sneaking suspicion that McCallister was deliberately left at home as part of some sadistic training regimen and pitted against unsuspecting burglars so he could refine and sharpen his tactical skills. Okay, that might not be true, but McCallister has a very impressive understanding of military tactics for someone his age. However, his innate affinity for setting up ambushes, traps, and conducting reconnaissance is undermined by his lack of experience.

To help any future home defenders protect their Christmas presents, we analyzed “Home Alone” and reviewed McCallister’s tactical missteps, along with the things we think he does well.
