Military Dogs Have Been Saving Lives For Generations

Dogs have been saving lives on battlefields since the days of Ancient Egypt. In the United States, they have played a key role in wars since the Revolutionary War. According to the Wall Street Journal, between 2006 and 2012, the Marine Corps used about 1,000 dogs in military campaigns around the world.

While dogs’ noses have been essential in sniffing out IEDs in Iraq and Afghanistan, their loyalty to service members on the battlefield truly make them man’s best friend.
