The Air Force is calling on active duty and reserve members to compete for a spot on the service’s Esports team, so they can head to Las Vegas, Nevada for this year’s Evolution Championship Series.
If the idea of getting orders to hit the Vegas strip and spending a few days playing video games sounds better than waking up early for morning PT, follow the directions in the Facebook post below to apply.
This year’s annual tournament features nine games, with the Air Force calling on players who are well-versed in the in-game fighting arts to compete in Street Fight V, Tekken 7, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Dragonball Fighterz, and Soulcaliber VI.
Eligible Air Force applicants have until May 17 to apply, after which tryouts will be held from May 25 to June 5. Those lucky enough to make the cut will spend some time from July 20 to 29 “training” — meaning, you get to play video games during the work day, with the added benefit that no SNCOs are going to chew you out for it, because you’re technically on orders.
After which, you’ll head to Vegas from July 31 to Aug 2 to compete against an international community of gamers in the hopes of winning a cash prize, and bragging rights for best TDY orders in the military.
