On Monday, six senators introduced the Clay Hunt Suicide Prevention Bill of 2014 in the Senate. The bill, which was largely spearheaded by the veterans advocacy group Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, provides significant reform to help combat veteran suicide and improve access to quality mental health care.
“No family member or friend should have to experience losing another veteran or service member to suicide,” said Susan Selke, the mother of Clay Hunt, a Marine veteran who died by suicide whom the bill is named after.
