If there’s one thing that U.S. military service members know, it’s gear. From the mighty KA-BAR fighting knife to those night vision goggles you are terrified of losing, you’ve probably forgotten more about knives, multitools, flashlights, and paracord than most civilians will ever learn in a lifetime.
We want you to share that knowledge with the rest of the world — and get paid in the process.
In recent months, we’ve quietly launched a new home for gear reviews on Task & Purpose to test the waters and figure out what our community cares about when it comes to building their daily gear loadout. Our dedicated team of experts have looked at everything from camping gear and coffee essentials to knives, tomahawks, and every blade in between.
Now we’re looking for a few devoted readers to join our ranks and review the latest and greatest gear and tech for us.
What does that mean? It means that, as a Task & Purpose gear contributor, we’ll send you fresh stuff for you to put through its paces. And we mean seriously put through its paces: we want you to beat the shit out of gear and provide your unvarnished, enthusiastic feedback on the good, the bad, and the ugly. We know you’re probably tired of seeing gear listicles written by someone who’s never worn a flak or Kevlar and most certainly never tested out said equipment while trudging around 80 pounds of gear. This is the perfect opportunity for you, a total gearhead with strong opinions, to recommend the best possible kit to your fellow veterans.
Oh, and did we mention that we’ll pay you for the pleasure of nerding out on the best gear on the market? Because that’s important.
If you’re a veteran interested in translating your years of experience into a paying gig, reach out to Jared Keller at jared@taskandpurpose.com. Include a little bit of information about yourself — your background, your MOS, and what’s in your current everyday carry loadout — and we’ll take it from there.
Thanks for reading, as always.
